Serves under the supervision of the administrator responsible for Special Education to provide psychological services to schools including testing, counseling and consulting to assist them in meeting the educational needs of pupils. Work with the Special Education Program in the iplementation of the requirements of state and federal laws. Evaluate pupils' functional ability level; school adjustment; achievement; language; perceptual-motor development; adaptive behavior; social development and emotional development. Select, administers, scores, interprets, integrates with other data and provides written results of psychological and educational tests and measures to parents, teachers, administrators, and others with a legitimate interest in the child. Performs assessment studies for possible placement of pupils in special education programs. Serves as liaison and consultant to other professionals involved in student appraisals including other psychologists, speech therapists, nurses, psychiatrists and physicians for the purpose of correlating all available information regarding individual children. Performs assessment procedures in conjunction with an interpreter, if needed, when working with limited-English speaking pupils. Provides consultation to teachers and others including the parents of children with special needs; maintain contact with community resources offering services to students and their families. Conduct and evaluate training programs for school personnel; develop and provide parent education programs/materials. Active member of each school's Student Study Team. Provides consultive services to each school principal in regards to student, family classroom, etc. issues.
