BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Associate Principal, perform a variety of clerical duties in support of student attendance and health functions at an assigned school site; verify, prepare and process attendance information; administer basic first aid, dispense medications and screen ill or injured students; answer phones and greet and assist visitors.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of student attendance and health functions; compile, assemble and maintain attendance and health data and information.
Verify excused and unexcused absences; process and verify student absence notes and information from parents and others; contact parents to verify absences as needed; assist students who are late or returning after an absence.
Receive, greet and direct visitors; respond to inquiries and provide a variety of general information to personnel, students, parents and the public concerning attendance, health functions and general school services, activities, policies and procedures.
Administer basic first aid to students as needed; screen and assess medical conditions of students; examine students and identify illnesses, injuries and medical emergencies; perform first aid procedures and CPR in emergency situations as needed; dispense medications according to physician instructions.
Serve as receptionist, answering telephone calls and directing calls to appropriate personnel as required; take and relay messages as appropriate; initiate telephone calls as needed; notify parents, administrators, health agencies and others of student illness, injury or emergencies as necessary.
Maintain a variety of student records and files related to student attendance, free and reduced lunches, health, medications, illnesses, accidents, injuries, immunizations, emergency information and assigned activities; prepare attendance reports as directed.
Input and update attendance, health and other student information in an assigned computer system; establish and maintain automated records and files; develop spreadsheets and generate computerized forms, reports and documents as assigned.
Compose and distribute a variety of correspondence such as letters and notifications; prepare and process various forms; duplicate and distribute materials as needed.
Utilize standard health instruments; operate a variety of office equipment including a copier, fax machine, computer and assigned software; retrieve absence calls from automated recorder as required; perform minor maintenance on equipment and arrange for repairs as needed.
Communicate with District personnel, parents, students and various outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
Prepare and distribute informational packets and bulk mailings as assigned.
Assist with a variety of other assigned functions such as TB testing, homework requests, locker assignments, permission slips, inventory, parking and emergency materials and activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years clerical experience including record-keeping duties and some work with student attendance functions.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid and current First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
