GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum, Staff Development, and Categorical Programs, the Coordinator of Educational Services is responsible for assisting in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the district’s curriculum and instructional program. The Coordinator of Educational Services provides leadership and supervision to various curriculum and instruction support programs; coordinates and administers professional development programs directly related to district goals and objectives; coordinates, implements, maintains, and evaluates categorical programs according to State and Federal guidelines; and serves as a resource to schools and other departments in the district.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
The Coordinator of Educational Services provides district-wide leadership and supervision in the following areas:
Curriculum & Instruction
- Assists with district professional development activities
- Assists in coordinating all aspects of district’s curriculum, instructional program pacing guides/schedules, professional development, and textbook adoption processes and complies with relevant local, state and federal regulations
- Researches a variety of information (e.g., best practices and methods, legal compliance issues) for the purpose of developing new programs and assessment plans
- Facilitates and participates in meetings, workshops and seminars required to perform program functions and maintain compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations
- Assists with the coordination of the district’s English Learner Program
- Assists in the coordination of the Teacher Induction Program
- Assists in the implementation and coordination of the GATE program: including identification of students and coordination of program activities and meetings
- Coordinates district supplemental programs and services such as but not limited to: extended learning programs, summer school, intersession, and after school programs as well as the After School Safety and Education Program (ASES).
- Facilitates Educational Services committee meetings and special events such as curriculum meetings, assistant principal meetings, Science Fair, and Spelling Bee
- Prepares written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information
Assessment and Accountability
- Assist in developing, coordinating and monitoring the district assessment program; monitor data entry for all school sites and grade levels
- Coordinate all state and federal assessments including CAASPP, CELDT, GATE, PFT, CHKS
- Develop and monitor District testing schedules, maintain, disseminate and inventory all district assessment materials to ensure efficient academic testing programs are in compliance with relevant regulations
- Uses district, state and federal data systems such as Illuminate, CALPADS, DataQuest, etc. to input data and create data reports
- Maintain test security for all assessments and receive, distribute, and return materials to appropriate agency
- Create, generate, disseminate, explain and present federal, state and district data reports as necessary to various stakeholders (i.e., Governing board, Management, Principals, teachers, parents etc.)
- Collect data and complete state and federal reports as necessary, such as but not limited to Civil Rights Collection
- Collect and analyze data to improve student outcomes for subgroups of 30 or more (i.e. English learners, African American, Hispanic and Socio-economically disadvantaged students) and foster youth
- Provide support, training and assistance to teachers, site administrators and District leadership in the administration of all state and district assessments
- Collaborate with the Technology Department to support District and state assessment programs as well as the student data management system
- Assist administrators and teachers in interpreting data and preparing reports
- Assist in coordinating the district student information system. Including but not limited to report cards, gradebook, assessment and student data components
Professional Development
- Assists in the coordination, development, and implementation of a professional development program designed to address district priorities and increase the effectiveness of classroom instruction
- Provides training and ongoing support on the district’s student achievement data and information system
Categorical Programs
Assists in meeting federal and state program compliance including but not limited to Title I, Title II, Title III and LCAP
- Assists in the coordination and/or facilitation of district parent committees including: district English Learner Committee, district Parent Advisory Committee and GATE Advisory Committee
- Monitors and reviews site ELAC and SSC meeting agendas and minutes for Federal and state compliance
- Facilitates and participates in meetings, workshops and seminars required to perform program functions and maintain compliance with relevant local, state and federal categorical regulations
- Assists in providing professional development and monitoring of the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) as well as the Evaluation of Program Effectiveness.
- Assists in the Coordination of the Migrant Education program
- Performs other administrative duties in support of the office including typing and preparing letters, new forms and documents, and other materials.

- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Education, Liberal Studies, or other related field. Valid Administrative Credential and valid Multiple Subjects or Single Subject Teaching Credential required. Master’s Degree required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience preferred
- Experience working with TK-8 staff
- Appropriate certification to teach English language learners (CLAD, BCLAD, SB395 or SB969 certificate, BCC or LDS certificate)
- Possess interpersonal skills necessary to work interdependently with all stakeholders
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING:
- TB Clearance
- Drug/Alcohol Clearance
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Valid teaching and administrative credentials
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Visual ability to read handwritten or typed documents, and display screens of various office equipment and machines. Extended viewing of computer monitor
- Able to conduct verbal conversation, write, and read in English
- Hearing and speaking to conduct group training, exchange information in person, electronically and on the telephone
- Able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and walk.
- Kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies
- Able to climb slopes, stairs, steps, step stools, and ramps
- Able to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
- Able to operate office machines and equipment in a safe and effective manner
ENVIRONMENT:
- Office environment: constant interruptions
- Outdoor environment: driving a personal vehicle to conduct work; visit school sites; travel to other organizations and companies; meetings and workshops
