Job Summary
The Multiple Subject Alternative High School Teacher is employed by John Muir Charter Schools (JMCS) and is responsible for classroom instruction of youth and young adults participating in the San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC) paid work training program in San Francisco, CA. San Francisco Conservation Corps and JMCS’s innovative education programs are designed to provide youth, ages 16-25, with an engaging educational experience that meets individual needs. We combine classroom-based instruction, project work, credit recovery, life skills, technical job training and other academic experiences into a highly personalized high school diploma program. Classroom activities are combined with paid job training provided by San Francisco Conservation Corps. This is a site-based teaching position and the teacher meets with the students daily to work on their high school diploma.

• California Multiple Subject Credential preferred • California Single Subject Credential in any subject eligible • English Learner Authorization (CLAD or other) or ability to obtain one required • University Interns in Multiple Subjects welcome to apply • Out-of-State fully credentialed applicants welcome to apply

Comments and Other Information
The teacher work schedule is approx. 9:00 – 5:00 M-Th, with the majority of students attending class from 2:00 – 4:30 on those days; students attend class approx. 7:30-2:30 on Friday. The teacher’s non-student work time is spent preparing for instruction, requesting records and doing administrative tasks, grading work, and meeting with partnering agency staff, among other things.
