Job Summary

San Luis Coastal USD is looking for a new team member for our Food Service department. The Senior Food Service Worker will organize and supervise the food service operation at a school cafeteria; maintain the food service areas, facilities, and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition; assist in the preparation and serving of food; and perform related duties as assigned. The current vacancy is for an assignment in which the incumbent may travel to various school sites in the District.   • Letter(s) of Recommendation (At least 1 signed letter from a professional reference, created within the past two years, and preferably on letterhead.)
  • Resume (Please specify dates worked at each location)

PURPOSE: To fill a current Senior Food Service Worker position, and to create an eligibility list to fill vacancies that occur over the next six months. A pre-employment physical may be required prior to starting work in this position. The District Application and Supplemental Application forms covering relevant knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience will be evaluated on a job-related basis. Applications passing with minimum qualifications and above will be contacted with an invitation to take the Food Service Worker Examination. TEST INFORMATION: A) 40% - A written examination covering skills, knowledge, and abilities required of a Senior Food Service Worker will be given, by appointment, for candidates who receive an invitation to test. Minimal written passing score is 70%. B) 60% - Oral interviews covering personal qualifications, experience, and training will be scheduled for candidates who pass the exam, unless the position has already been filled. Minimal passing score is 70%. SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Human Resources Department of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces in time of war, or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
