Job Summary

The job of Child Development Assistant is done for the purpose/s of supporting the educational process within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for organizing and implementing age-appropriate activities for school age students; preparing and serving snacks; providing assistance with homework; and assisting in maintaining a clean and safe learning environment for students.

Requirements / Qualifications

SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process will include screening to ensure application is complete and applicant meets minimum qualifications. The process will include an online written exam for all qualified applicants. Those candidates achieving a passing score on the online exam will be invited to the oral exam. Passing score is 70% on each exam. An eligibility list will be established and the top three ranks of candidates from the list will receive a departmental interview. Candidates will remain on the list for one year and additional interviews will be conducted in rank order as vacancies occur. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and some experience working with children in an organized setting. 12 units of early childhood education must be completed in the first year of employment. Requires a valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certificate. ***100% online-only certifications are NOT accepted. Only in-person or hybrid class CPR/FirstAid certifications will be approved.***
