Huntington Beach Adult School is hiring teachers for the ESL (English as Second) program.

Desirable: Previous experience teaching ESL or English. Personal qualities which will enable him/her to manage required duties and which will result in an effective rapport with students. Sincere interest in Adult ESL learners and a desire to guide and encourage their education and language acquisition. Must be willing and able to utilize latest technology resources (internet, SMARTboard, Teams, etc.) to present instruction for both in-person and online students.

Major Duties:

  • Provide effective instruction in assigned ESL level classes utilizing adopted curriculum.
  • Utilize the appropriate instructional techniques, activities and materials which will adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils, provide hands-on interactive lessons, and be consistent with school and district goals.
  • Establish and maintain standards necessary to preserve a suitable learning environment.
  • Perform basic student attendance accounting, textbook accounting, and testing as required by staff rules or established  procedures.
