The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until cancelled. (The names of eligible candidates on the current list will be merged to the new list in accordance with final scores.) There is currently ONE position open at Reynolds Elementary. This is a 6 hour/day, 11 month position. Under general supervision of a Site Administrator, Librarian, Media Center Teacher, or other certificated staff, to perform complex clerical and technical tasks in a library media center related to the acquisition, processing, cataloging, circulation, maintenance, disposition, and record keeping for library media materials; to assist students in developing library skills; to assist teachers by supporting curriculum and providing library media resources; and to assign and provide work direction to student aides, volunteers, and clerical personnel assisting in the library. Positions in this class are characterized by the continual involvement with students and staff members in the use of library and media resources. Incumbents are expected to have a working knowledge of available resources. The majority of the duties follow established guidelines and the incumbents are expected to identify those items of a unique or unusual nature for referral to the appropriate supervisor.
Requirements / Qualifications
Training and Experience The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate; one year of library or media center experience; additional training or college level work in library science is highly desirable, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. Knowledge of Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Modern library organization, procedures, and library record keeping routines including familiarity with one or more computerized library circulation, on-line access and informational retrieval systems. Library media concepts and terminology. Library classification and research systems and procedures. Modern office procedures and practices. Ability to Use computer hardware and application database library management systems. Perform library and clerical work using independent judgment. Apply specific rules and procedures used in a library/media center setting. Organize materials according to general guidelines. Maintain records and prepare complex and accurate reports. Post information to cards, records, and forms with accuracy and speed. Communicate effectively with public and staff. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Operate standard office machines and a variety of audiovisual equipment. Maintain harmonious relationships with those contacted in the course of work and relate well to students.
