Requirements / Qualifications

Job Overview: Mariposa is a girl empowerment program that serves approximately 150 middle and high school students in Napa and American Canyon. Under the direction of the Mariposa and Bridging Brothers Program Coordinator and in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Safe Schools & Prevention Services team, the Mariposa Program Assistant is responsible for delivering evidence-based violence and substance-use prevention curriculum. The individual will mentor youth in developing their leadership skills and mobilize students to coordinate school-wide awareness campaigns and other youth development activities. Experience in using a wide range of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) is also necessary for promoting program activities. Candidates must demonstrate the ability in building positive relationships with school staff, young people, and parents.

Responsibilities and Duties: • Assist in outreach and recruitment of new participants at school sites • Prepare and implement weekly 1-hour small group sessions at assigned school sites • Ability to deliver curriculum in a creative and interactive way • Administer an maintain program files for all activities and assist in data collection including student pre/post surveys and attendance • Provide Tobacco-Use Prevention Education • Engage program participants in leadership and advocacy • Attend Youth Development Napa County meetings to collaborate with partner agencies, schools, and Prevention Health & Wellness team to engage students in youth development activities and campaigns • Develop a social media strategy to drive engagement and outreach • Attend trainings as necessary
