Job Summary
High School Counselor for unique charger high school in Redding, CA -Coordinates CHYBA’s Social Emotional Academic Learning (SEAL) program. -Works with CHYBA’s Job Developer to assist students in college/career exploration. -Collaborates with the Case Manager to support students experiencing family, personal, or economic crises. -Works collaboratively with staff (including the Mentor Coordinator) to develop strategies for keeping “opportunity youth” engaged in CHYBA’s programs. -Develops, facilitates, and delivers instruction in CHYBA’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum, life skills and leadership development opportunities. -Reviews student academic progress, including transcripts/grades/credits and coordinates Student Personalized Plans to ensure student engagement and success. -Leads the process of collaboratively creating and implementing the master schedules for onsite courses, Work-Based Learning, electives, and CTE opportunities each six-week block. -Facilitates and/or participates in orientation and recruitment meetings.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience: • Experience in an alternative or charter high school setting desirable • A valid California Credential appropriate for an alternative charter high school setting • A strong background of successfully working with young people • Current California driver’s license, and use of an automobile with appropriate insurance
