SALARY
All new hires will be placed at the starting salary step of this classification ($26.18). Employees are eligible for a step increase on their anniversary date each year, up to the maximum step 5 of this salary range ($31.89).
ABOUT THE JOB: This list will be used to fill part-time and full-time assignments. Under general supervision, performs custodial services required to maintain assigned buildings or areas in a clean, orderly, and secure manner; and to do related work as required.
JOB DUTIES: Sweeps, mops, waxes, strips, seals, and cleans floors; vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets; dusts, washes, and polishes furniture and woodwork; empties and cleans waste receptacles; washes windows and walls; cleans cafeterias, kitchens, and offices; cleans restrooms, shower facilities, and locker rooms; sweeps sidewalks and picks up papers; cleans drinking fountains; polishes metal work; fills paper and soap dispensers; replaces light bulbs; replenishes supplies; turns out lights and secures buildings by locking doors, windows, and gates; moves, arranges, and sets up furniture and equipment for sporting or special events and meetings; does minor painting to cover graffiti and badly soiled areas; and waters lawns.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to completion of the eighth grade. Any other combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING….
Ability to: Learn and maintain schedules providing for regular cleaning of assigned areas; operate various electrical cleaning equipment; follow oral and written instructions; work cooperatively with others; and perform manual work involved in lifting and moving heavy objects over extended periods of time.
