THE POSITION: The Director I of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion shall provide strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and technical assistance to the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) divisions, Los Angeles County districts, and schools; research, plan, develop, organize, direct, and manage the implementation of programs and systems that value and prioritize equity, diversity, and inclusion; lead the implementation and monitor accountability measures for LACOE’s equity, diversity, and inclusion strategy both internally and in support of the 80 school districts; work across LACOE divisions to assess potential barriers to diversity and inclusiveness amongst staff, , and build inclusive leadership capabilities; foster a culture of belonging; and embed equity and inclusion across every LACOE function; assist districts in establishing, providing, and sustaining culturally relevant and responsive student services; advocate for the importance of establishing and maintaining diverse and inclusive environments through an integrated communications strategy; collaborate and communicate effectively with schools, districts, county personnel, community partners, and state educational agencies.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Any combination of education and experience that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Three (3) years of administrative and management experience at the Director level or higher in a public education setting. Experience with work related to equity, diversity, and inclusion is required. Experience in the development, administration, and monitoring of programs; working with state and/or federal categorical programs is highly desirable. Education: Equivalent to a Master’s degree in education or a closely related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION (Must attach a detailed certification/credential with document number to application): • Possess and maintain a valid Teaching Credential K-12 • Possess and maintain valid Administrative Services Credential

The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) may provide Remote Work (RW) or an Alternative Work Schedule (AWS) at the administrator's complete discretion. LACOE considers RW and AWS a practical alternative work arrangement in cases where the individual employee, the job's essential functions, the supervisor, and other considerations are well suited to such an arrangement. An example may include positions that do not provide direct services. Not all employees and jobs are suitable for RW or AWS.
