Under the direction of the Executive Director, the ELD Coordinator is responsible for coordinating district wide activities, disseminating and receiving information related to English Language Development program for English Language Learner students including: planning and implementing activities and/or special events; addressing operational issues; providing recommendations of expenditures for activities, equipment, and supplies that enhance the school’s programs; and serving as a resource to respective school staff, providing support and guidance based on their subject area knowledge and experience. The ELD Coordinator will also supervise ELD staff and classroom teachers to ensure that all lesson plans and modifications are in compliance with EdCode and federal and state mandated rules and regulations related to ELD. The ELD Coordinator typically works with the student in support of the classroom teacher. The coordinator typically sees the assigned students periodically throughout the week to promote their development of English language proficiency. The ELD Coordinator may also teach an English Language support class for students. Work hours are 7:30am – 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday (although these hours may vary and may require occasional evening and weekend work based on organizational needs). Minimal or no travel required, other than visits to other local school sites or the Business Office (as needed).
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications: • BA required; Master’s Degree (CAS/EdS/EdD/PhD) preferred. • Teaching credential and CLAD, BCLAD, SDAIE certification is desirable; Administrative credential preferred. • Experience in the education field and working with elementary students desired. • Three years of successful secondary teaching/pupil services experience, including one year of ELD. Minimum of three (3) years of collaborative work experience with demonstrated competence, including two (2) years’ experience in special education. • Bilingual/Bi-literate English/Spanish desirable.
