About the Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the teacher, the Instructional Support Assistant I – Driver assists in carrying out educational plans for individual students. Performs a variety of routine tasks to assist and care for children assigned to school programs. Transports students to and from school and on field trips as required. Provides direct care, supervision, and support of the children in a regular and/or special education classroom setting. Maintains and prepares classroom materials, records, and assigned student files. Provides instructional assistance that reinforces learning to students. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Satisfactory results from pre-employment physical required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This position requires a high school diploma or recognized equivalent and satisfactory results from a proficiency exam, and six months of experience working with and/or driving students. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: New employees must pass proficiency test or have 48 college units. Requires a valid California driver’s license. If using personal vehicle in the course of employment, must have proof of liability insurance required by law. DMV driving record printout. Requires satisfactory results from pre-employment strength tests Candidates who meet MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, but lack Proficiency Certificate will be scheduled for an exam. if you hold 48 college units, please submit unofficial transcript with your application.
