Job Summary

Job Summary

DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Special Education and Student Services, the TK-12 Math Specialist serves as a curriculum resource and instructional coach for the district's elementary (grades TK-5) teachers and secondary (grades 6-12) mathematics teachers. Provides coaching, teacher support, collaborative planning, and professional development for elementary teachers and secondary mathematics teachers in math. As a member of the district's Math Committee, supports the development of CCSS-aligned curriculum and assessments LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS: Must hold a CA clear teaching credential in Mathematics EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of five years' experience teaching mathematics KNOWLEDGE: • • Provide coaching support (demonstration lessons, lesson study, classroom visitations, and professional development) for elementary teachers and secondary mathematics teachers • Collaboratively help teachers plan standards-aligned lessons • Support grade level meetings at elementary schools and department meetings at the secondary schools. • Support implementation of district-adopted scope and sequence • Support development and implementation of the district's common formative assessments, interim assessment blocks, benchmark assessments and assist with analysis of assessments to improve instruction and student learning • Design/facilitate professional development in assigned content area, sometimes after school • Learn about and include methods to accelerate learning and language development of English Learners and Students with Special Needs • Attend professional development on work-related responsibilities such as classroom coaching and observation, designing/delivering professional development, facilitating meetings, English Learners and Students with Special Needs, Common Core State Standards, and adult learninc:i theory • Work as part of a team with other TOSAs, and with administrators to support district goals an
