Job Summary
SMUSD is seeking instructional assistants to support Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classes. Candidates with experience in an early childcare setting or preschool and familiarity with the California Preschool Learning Foundations, are preferred. In addition to other duties as assigned, candidates will support educational progress across all areas of early development, including behavior, academic, social-emotional, self-help, restroom and hygiene routines, and small and large group instruction.

To qualify for an Instructional Aide position, you must meet the State of California NCLB (No Child Left Behind) compliance requirement. When applying for this position, you must include proof of ONE (1) of the following with your application: 1. Passed CBEST 2. AA (Associates) or higher College Degree 3. 48 College Semester Units or higher (1.5 Quarter Units = 1 Semester Unit) 4. Proof of a passed NCLB Test with an employing School District* *If you do not already meet NCLB qualifications under #1, #2, #3 or #4 above, our District is offering NCLB testing by appointment only. To discuss test dates, contact Human Resources at (760) 752-1245. NCLB testing is subject to staff and conference room availability.

Employees new to the District are allowed salary schedule placement credit for up to two (2) years of previous experience with a maximum salary schedule entry placement for step three (3).
