MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
1. Credential
California credential authorizing school counseling service
2. Education
Sufficient to meet credential requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff,
students, parents, and the public contacted in performance of duties
2. Demonstrated working knowledge of curriculum
3. Knowledge of registration procedures
4. Knowledge of counseling objectives, principles and procedures
5. Ability to listen to students with patience and understanding
6. Ability to identify and determine the basic nature of student problems
and needs and provide assistance
7. Ability to provide career guidance and counseling on an individual basis
8. Ability to collect and analyze test data, conduct studies, keep records,
and prepare reports
9. Knowledge of the ancillary services within the school and how they
relate to the program
10. Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of subordinate personnel
11. Ability to speak and write effectively
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Management Area
a. Registration
b. Articulation and Orientation
c. Determine individual needs of students
d. Account of individual progress
2. Direct Services
a. Study student characteristics
b. Counsel students
c. Confer with parents
d. Group guidance
3. Provide coordinative and consultative functions to teachers, students
and administration
4. Be willing to participate in professional inservice (i.e. college admission,
vocational opportunities/program and professional guidance organization)
