Long Beach Community College seeks a student-centered Matriculation Aide for the Counseling Department, located in the Liberal Arts and Pacific Coast Campuses. Matriculation Aide's support students with a variety of onboarding and transitional supports, including assistance with orientation, registration, and services supporting acclimation to college life, retention, and success.

 

Highly desired qualities for this position include, strong record keeping abilities, interpersonal skills including customer services, and demonstrate a sensitive to persons with diverse socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including the disabled. The ability to speak, write and communicate in Vietnamese, Cambodian and Spanish is a desired quality for a Matriculation Aide. AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION

 

• Type of position: Part Time

• Location: Liberal Art Campus, but will support both campuses .

• Salary: RANGE 9 $15.90 - $19.48 hourly

• Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

 

Education, Training and Experience:

 

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent and some clerical/office experience, and serving college students, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.

 

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

Incomplete or late applications will be disqualified from further consideration. Qualified candidates will be notified in writing if they are moving forward in the selection process.

• If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (~3 months) to test again for the same classification.
