Requirements / Qualifications

The Hillsborough City School District is seeking Substitute Classroom Teachers for the 2022-2023 school year for all settings in our Middle School and Elementary Schools. The Hillsborough City School District uses Absence Management for its substitute management system and Absence Management gives substitute teachers great flexibility both in the frequency they choose to work and the location they prefer to work. In addition to the Edjoin application, please submit the following documents online: 1) Letter of Interest 2) Resume 3) 30-Day Emergency Sub Permit (See instructions below) OR 3) California Teaching Credential

TO GET YOUR 30-DAY EMERGENCY SUB PERMIT: Step 1: Obtain a Certificate of Clearance: http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/cl900.pdf Step 2: Fulfill the CA Basic Skills Requirements: http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/cl667.pdf Step 3: Complete job application on: www.edjoin.org (search for “Hillsborough City”) Step 4: You will be contacted to set up an appointment at the District Office. You will need to bring: • A valid Driver’s License • Social Security Card • Current TB Test Results • A personal check (nonrefundable) for Live Scan fingerprint testing for our district Step 5: Obtain official transcripts for Bachelor’s degree

The students are eager to learn and consistently surpass state standards. HCSD offers many PD opportunities outside of school, and programs to collaborate within and across the schools to promote best practices. HCSD looks for teachers who are committed to creating a diverse and equitable curriculum. We teach with humility and pride. Our School Foundation is instrumental in supporting small classroom sizes and specialists. Our Community: Hillsborough (HCSD) is a town just south of San Francisco, with a population of approximately 10,000. The families of HCSD form a cohesive community who support the school tremendously. The School Foundation is active and robust, and provides a key role in financially supporting HCSD. The school district has one of the highest per student spend in the State.
