Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction will provide critical leadership to carry out the mission, goals, and educational programs within Culver City Unified School District. Primary responsibilities include the research, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on special populations represented within the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will frequently participate in and facilitate meetings with a broad range of certificated and classified staff, students, and community members to influence, motivate, and monitor the objectives of the District and the operation of the educational services department. A large responsibility within the position is coordinating programs guided through the supplemental funding of the LCAP with a focus on English Learners and in facilitating data and instruction for the district’s Response to Intervention Programs.

Minimum Qualifications - Minimum of five years of full time teaching experience at the elementary level and/or secondary level (experience at multiple levels highly encouraged); three to five years as a successful administrator (principal highly preferred) with evidence of increased student achievement. Training beyond credential requirement in curriculum, supervision, methods and materials, organization, and administration; ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, community and employee organizations. Knowledge and experience with both elementary and secondary level preferred. - Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university - California Administrative Credential, and English Language Learner Authorization or equivalent is required. Doctorate Degree is preferred. - Valid California Class C Driver’s License with an insured automobile is required. (DO NOT ATTACH TO THE APPLICATION)

The qualifications of each applicant will be evaluated in a multi-step process using specific criteria. The adopted criteria will be utilized during the application screening, interviewing and final decision-making process. After the application screening is completed, the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services will determine those candidates to be interviewed. Interviews will be conducted in August and finalists may be invited to return for an additional interview with the Superintendent and Board Member(s). CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance, a tuberculosis clearance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. If you are hired, we will require you to prove that you have received the COVID-19 vaccine(s) or have a valid religious or medical reason not to be vaccinated. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district.
