Job Summary
Under the direction of the Principal, the Dean of Culture & Climate will support the vision for the Bellflower Unified School District by ensuring that all students have access to attendance, academic, behavioral and social-emotional interventions and supports. The Dean of Culture & Climate will work closely with the school administrative team to provide at-risk students with academic and social support. The Dean of Culture & Climate will facilitate in-school suspension and restorative meetings for students returning to school from suspension . ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to: • Monitoring behavioral pull-out and in-school suspensions. • Assists the principal in maintaining standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere and effective participation in all activities. • Plans and implements programs designed to develop student character and discipline in accordance with District and school standards. • Implementation of Restorative Justice Practices: o Hold one-on-one conferences with students with repeated infractions in order to discuss his/her discipline record and next steps o Consistently implement a behavior contract system to consistently support and monitor the progress of students who are frequently suspended o Implement the school sites re-entry protocol for students returning to school from out-of-school suspension or incarceration o Lead professional development for staff regarding de-escalation techniques and restorative practices • Assists the principal in the coordination of campus security, facilities and grounds. • Confers with and advises parents on matters of student’s behavior and the implementation of effective programs related to student discipline. • Creates and monitors student intervention plans. • Responsible for mitigating student attendance problems. • Actively provides follow-up student discipline in regards to teacher and campus referrals. • Meets and confers with parent

**Bellflower Unified School District is following the public health officer order entitled "Vaccine Verification for Workers in Schools" which allows two paths for employees: present evidence of being fully vaccinated OR undergo weekly testing.
