Job Summary: The Special Education Facilitator is responsible for organizing, facilitating, and supporting the school’s special education requirements both at administrative and instructional levels. The Special Education Facilitator is expected to exhibit the same skills, knowledge, and qualities required of the general classroom teachers in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, professional responsibilities and relationships, family involvement, and school community. This position is for 11 months. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Employee is expected to report to the NVVA Office (8645 S Eastern Ave. #100, Las Vegas, NV 89123), Monday-Friday, from 8:00-4:00 pm. • Exhibit a strong commitment to improving student achievement. • Maintain a positive disposition and relationship with students, staff, and parents. • Assist students and parents in problem solving and acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to support the development and implementation of their child’s IEP. • Collaborate with appropriate departments to assure that students with disabilities are receiving appropriate education. • Collaborate with counseling staff/administration to assure proper class scheduling. • Assist team, administration, and professional staff and support staff with the effective implementation of federal, state, and local mandates. • Collect and analyze data to make sound decisions that serve in the best interest of students. • Serve as LEA during IEP meetings. • Assist IEP teams in the development and implementation of IEPs, including student transition plan, and behavior support plans. • Effectively use, and train staff to use, the electronic IEP and Special Education Management System. • Serve as the LEA during IEP meetings. • Demonstrate ability to effectively use, assist, and train special education staff in using the electronic IEP and SPED management system as a learning, information, collaboration and communication tool. • Support, mentor and model best practice instructional strategies and techniques. • Assure confidentiality and organization or records through observable procedures consistent with administrative directives. • Inform administrator of special education concerns/issues that may be supervisory in nature. • Provide school staff with information on positive behavioral supports and other effective teaching techniques. • Effectively communicate procedures and best practices to staff through monthly meetings. • Participate in professional development opportunities. Remain current with educational trends and implement new strategies effectively. • Provide Professional Development on topics related to special education. • Monitor, on a regular basis, all confidential folders, progress monitoring data, progress reports, and IEPs to ensure completeness and compliance as per state regulations. • Meet evaluation domain expectations • Other duties as assigned
