Job Summary
Poway to Palomar Middle College High School is Poway Unified School District’s newest school. This school will serve 11th and 12th grade students on site at Palomar College’s Rancho Bernardo campus. In its first year, the school will open with 11th grade, and in subsequent years will expand to both 11th and 12th grade. For more information see website: www.powayusd.com/en-US/Schools/HS/PPMC/Home PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under the immediate supervision of the program administrator, provide a college preparatory educational program to students in grades 11 and 12. Teachers will teach core subjects and support classes to students at least three days per week. Teachers will provide supervision to students in internships up to two days per week. Roles and responsibilities within the PUSD job description for teacher and specific to PPMC include the following: • Develop units of study with lesson plans, assignments, rubrics, and instructional materials for each assigned course. • Provide both synchronous and asynchronous instruction. • Provide instruction/assessments for assigned courses. • Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students, including supervision of clubs and activities. • Teach daily from an on-campus assigned classroom space at Palomar College’s Rancho Bernardo Center. • Participate in ongoing Professional Development related to early college and middle college instructional practices. • Integrate career goals and develop related educational plans. • Provide ongoing feedback to parents and students. • Work collaboratively in professional learning networks (PLNs) to support student success with PPMC team and college faculty. • Use of Canvas • Integrate technology into the curriculum. • Integrate/utilize district-supported technology platforms, including, but not limited to, Zoom for Education.
Requirements / Qualifications
1. Copy of California Single Subject Teaching Credential – in the subjects of Math and/or Social Science with CLAD certification or equivalent 2. Current Resume 3. Current Copy of Transcripts 4. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation signed within the last 12 months. It is recommended that at least one (1) come from a supervising administrator. 5. Letter of Intent addressed to Ricardo Ceceña, Director of Human Resources 6. California driver’s license and ability to drive self to student internship sites 7. (Preferred but not required) Meet the minimum qualifications of a Palomar College instructor, i.e., hold a Master’s Degree in the subject area taught. 8. (Preferred but not required) Experience working with students with learning differences.

• School Year: For the most part, PPMC will follow the Palomar College calendar. The work year and holidays are different from most Poway USD schools. Teachers will have 186 work days and 180 student days and will be paid on the certificated teacher salary schedule.
• During the school year, any other required service beyond the regular workday will be compensated at the teacher hourly rate (currently $41.67).
• Commitment: Teachers are asked to make a three-year commitment to teach in the Poway to Palomar Middle College. This will allow program continuity, seeing two classes through to graduation.
