CLASS TITLE: CAMPUS SECURITY
BASIC FUNCTION:
Patrol and monitor an assigned campus; maintain order, safety and security; assure student compliance with school and District policies and regulations.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Individual positions may not perform all of the duties listed nor do these examples include all responsibilities of positions in this class.
Patrol and monitor an assigned campus to maintain order and security; unlock doors and school facilities; monitor lunch areas, walkways, restrooms and parking lots. E
Respond to classroom calls of disturbance, behavior problems or related situations; escort students to office for disciplinary action as necessary; write referrals according to established guidelines as necessary. E
Assist in the investigation of illegal activities; search backpacks, cars and lockers for alcohol, weapons, drugs and drug paraphernalia and other related articles according to established procedures and District policies. E
Enforce school and District rules, regulations and policies for the safety and security of students, staff and property; report unusual activities or unauthorized persons on campus to appropriate personnel. E
Observe students during passing periods between classes, lunch and break periods; assure timely return of students to class. E
Prevent student conflicts and fights according to established guidelines and intervene as necessary; advise students of consequences if rules are violated as necessary. E
Monitor students boarding school buses; assure student cooperation according to school and District rules and regulations. E
Monitor students assigned to after school work detail. E
Operate a golf cart and two-way radios to communicate with school office and other security personnel. E
Prevent illegal parking and loitering on school grounds according to established procedures; check vehicles for appropriate parking stickers; write tickets for illegal parking. E
Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff and community; communicate with students and staff to provide and receive information regarding school activities. E
Assist with setting up and breaking down chairs, tables and other equipment for assemblies and events as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Assure student compliance with school and District policies and regulations.
Learn, interpret, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Perform duties with patience, tact and good judgment and within established guidelines.
Learn District organization, operations, policies and objectives.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Observe situations and accurately determine an effective course of action.
Operate a two-way radio.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent and experience working with students.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver’s license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT:
Outdoor environment.
Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
Adverse weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing for extended periods of time.
Running.
Climbing stairs.
HAZARDS:
Contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals.
Possible fights and confrontations.

Requirements / Qualifications

- Multiple locations (Elementary, Middle and High Schools)
- Varying hours per day: 7 or 8
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: The following MUST be attached to application on or before the deadline:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent OR Associate's Degree OR Bachelor's Degree OR Higher Education Degree SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATES: Possession of a valid California Driver's license. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination. Cost of the exam will be borne by the District. If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted. A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview.
