DESCRIPTION: This position works in 2 programs at the same location. Morning Preschool Teacher in a co-taught preschool inclusion classroom with children ages 3-5 years of age. Afternoon School Age Teacher in an after-school enrichment program with children in grades TK-2nd grade. Provide support to additional after school classrooms as needed for grades 3rd through 8th grade. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field including 24 Child Development Units required. Master’s degree preferred. Valid CA Master Teacher Permit or higher desired. Specialized training or education in special education; Teaching Pyramid, Universal Design and/or Embedded Instruction for Learning, preferred. 3-5 years of experience working with children ages 3-12 years old in an early childhood education and after school enrichment program required. Working knowledge or the ability to learn District adopted software: Google Suite, Google Classroom, Google Hangout and/or Zoom, etc. CPR and First Aid Certified Must be in good health, able to lift 30 lbs. chest high, and pass a physical exam. Must be able to walk, squat, bend and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Collaborate with teaching staff to develop a successful co-teaching team in an integrated learning setting. Provide effective classroom management in a co-teaching environment to create a thriving learning environment for children of all abilities. Responsible for ongoing development, implementation, evaluation and oversight of the child-centered, play-based curriculum for all children Knowledge of High/Scope, STEM/STEAM curriculum development, Project-based learning, Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Preschool Learning Foundations, Teaching Pyramid, Desired Results Developmental Profile, CLASS, QRIS and/or ECERS/SACERS preferred. Ability to supervise and lead Associate Teachers and Teacher Aides in the development of classroom plans and goals Keep children safe and healthy through proper supervision, authentic interaction and practicing good health habits. Ensure all health and safety protocols are implemented and practiced in the classroom as outlined by SCUSD and FCE. Create exciting and enriched environments connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences. Work collaboratively with staff, supervisors, school leadership, district partners and others by practicing workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player. Communicate regularly with parents to support, guide, and share in their child’s development. Ability to problem solve, use good judgment, communicate effectively both verbally & written, set priorities and goals, resolve conflict and manage time effectively and meet deadlines. *BENEFITS INCLUDE: paid sick leave, vacation leave, holiday pay, medical, dental, vision, retirement PLEASE NOTE: Select programs are open year-round.
