The Long Beach City College Physical Science department is seeking a Science Laboratory Equipment Technician (Chemistry) to join our talented and diverse team. The ideal candidate would be a person with strong organizational and technical skills. The position performs a variety of technical duties in an assigned laboratory, including set up, maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, as well as maintains the safety and cleanliness of lab equipment and facilities. Highly desirable skills include: experience with maintaining inventory of lab equipment and supplies, ability to make small repairs to equipment as needed, administrative abilities such as purchasing, record keeping and filing practices.

• Type of position: Full Time (schedule may vary, including afternoon/evening and Saturdays)
• Location: Liberal Art Campus, but will support both campuses
• Salary: Range 27: $4089.97 - $5031.47 Monthly
• Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical duties in an assigned laboratory, including set up, maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment and instrumentation; orders, stores and inventories materials, supplies and consumables; maintains safety and cleanliness of lab equipment and facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is an Associate's degree in a scientific discipline relevant to the laboratory assignment or a closely related field; and at least one year of experience working in a science laboratory, including operating, maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
