Teacher, Multiple Subjects, TK-K (.5 FTE) 

Certificated Job Description:

Under the direction of the site administrator, the Teacher will provide instruction to students served at Peak to Peak Mountain Charter.  Peak to Peak is an independent public charter school authorized under Maricopa Unified School District. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Maintain a classroom of students (typically 15-25) securing a safe and healthy classroom learning environment. 
  2. Tutor students in areas where they need additional help or the parent requests assistance. 
  3. Assist the parents to determine appropriate learning modalities for each of their children. 
  4. Assess the level of student achievement on a regular basis. 
  5. Find and/or develop materials that are appropriate to the instructional level of each student. 
  6. Advise parents on issues that affect the learning environment at home such as scheduling, study space, family dynamics, etc. 
  7. Develop grade appropriate learning access through well-planned Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to include Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
  8. Plan and teach enrichment classes. 
  1. Teach Common Core State Standards (CCSS) aligned to grade level assignment. 
  1. Plan and assess lessons completed by each student. 
  2. Maintain accurate up-to-date attendance records. 
  3. Willingness to accept adjunct duties. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

A. Personal Qualifications: 

  1. Familiarity with a wide range of content areas and grade levels. 
  2. Excellent one-on-one interpersonal skills.
  3. Effective classroom management skills. 
  4. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. 

B. Professional Qualifications: 

  1. Ability to work closely with a team of teachers, school administration and school board. 
  2. Willingness to assist with office/school needs as they arise. 
  3. Ability to collaborate with parents. 
  4. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. 

TRAINING AND/OR CREDENTIALS 

A. Education:  Valid California Multi-Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD and area of authorization required based on assignment. 

B. Experience: 

  1. Teaching experience including combination class exposure is highly desirable. 
  2. Experience in analyzing assessment data for the purpose of guiding instruction.
  3. Knowledge of Google and Canvas learning platforms desirable.
  4. Alternative education experience desirable. 

C. Instructional Technology (IT) experience and expertise desirable:

  1. Model high quality common core aligned lessons in which technology is effectively infused into the daily instruction, leading to student development of 21st Century Skills.
  2. Successful experience integrating technology in a classroom setting with “at-risk” youth. 
  1. Collaborate with colleagues, paraprofessionals and administration to evaluate and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of technology in daily instruction. 
  1. Personal desire to increase professional expertise and familiarity with Google, Chromebooks and interactive whiteboards as learning tools.
