Under the direction of the Director, Special Education consults with staff concerning the appropriate learning strategies and positive behavior interventions to support students in accessing instruction in the least restrictive environment.
Professional Requirements:
- A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Certification.
- Experience as a BCBA in the school setting preferred
- Master’s Degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, special education, child development, and/or related field preferred
Professional Responsibilities:
The qualified candidates for the position will be required to:
- Work independently under general supervision
- Establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with district administrators, specialized services staff, parents, community, and other related agencies
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Establish good pupil rapport
- Possess effective methods and resources for staff training
- Maintain Confidentiality of pupil information
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), 1:1 Aide assessments, develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) and present findings at IEP Meetings
- Support staff in the implementation of BIPs for identified students
- Implement and coach staff on researched based/validated methods of classroom management and behavior strategies as well as methods of data collection
- Consult with support staff regarding implementation of BIPs
- Coordinate ongoing staff development of co-instructional staff
- Oversee and coordinate 1:1 aides
- Maintain appropriate records and prepare reports as required
- Develop and deliver targeted/sequenced trainings
Salary:
The current range for this position is $90,264 - $110,817 for 185 days of duty.

Currently, the District has over 7,000 students in its K-12 program and runs an extensive Adult School program. There are seven unique elementary schools, all have been designated by the State of California as Distinguished Schools, a school for the orthopedically handicapped, an intermediate school, a comprehensive high school, and a continuation school.
