CLASS TITLE:
HIGH SCHOOL ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of a High School Principal, perform technical accounting and related statistical work in compiling, reviewing, maintaining and reporting financial data related to both ASB accounting and the high school site and department accounts.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Process ASB accounts payable invoices; code, review for accuracy, monitor timelines for applicable discounts, and post to computer.
Prepare, review and post to computer ASB journal entry transactions between club accounts transferring income/expense related transactions.
Process ASB accounts receivable; receive money, write receipt, reconcile cash balances, prepare bank deposits.
Provide for proper collection and accountability of monies received; prepare cash boxes for various school events; reconcile cash boxes and tickets, prepare deposit and post to accounts.
Prepare ASB financial reports using applicable software; evaluate financial condition of accounts utilizing financial reports.
Prepare, code, log and monitor ASB purchase orders; reconcile ASB bank statements.
Code, log, post, monitor and track high school departmental requisitions and purchase orders.
Code and review for accuracy and legitimacy of claim various revolving cash reimbursement and refund claims; prepare revolving cash checks; submit monthly report to the District Office; reconcile bank statement.
Monitor and track site budget; review for accuracy; prepare reports regarding discrepancies and request corrections and adjustments; prepare journal entries to reflect budget transfers and revisions.
Provide technical assistance to other employees regarding interpretation of laws, regulations, contracts, District policies, Education Codes and accounting procedures.
Maintain, sell and distribute sporting event and CIF tickets, dance tickets and other activities.

Accounting, bookkeeping, budgeting principles, practices and procedures.
Basic financial analysis.
Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques.
Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Operation of a computer terminal.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course work in accounting and four years accounting clerical experience.
