Work Location: Brea Olinda High School

Supervisor: Assistant Principal

Work Schedule: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 10 mos. per year, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Assistant Principal, perform a variety of clerical duties related to student attendance accounting and record-keeping activities at an assigned school site; contact parents and guardians to report and verify excused and unexcused absences; operate a computer and assigned software to input and update attendance information.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Perform a variety of clerical duties related to student attendance accounting and record-keeping activities at an assigned school site; provide accurate reporting for daily attendance activities and update attendance data for required ADA reporting.

Verify excused and unexcused absences; process and verify student absence information from parents, teachers and others; prepare call slips for use during class periods; issue admittance forms to students who are late or returning after an absence; prepare and collect period roll sheets for each class.

Input and update attendance, enrollment and other student information into an assigned computer system; establish and maintain automated student records; generate a variety of computerized lists and reports related to student attendance data; monitor and prepare automated telephone dialer system to assure accurate and updated student information and calling patterns.

Initiate and receive telephone calls; screen and route calls as directed; take and relay messages; respond to inquiries and provide student attendance and other information to District personnel, parents and outside agencies.

Assist students, staff and visitors in the attendance office; take and relay messages to and from parents and students; explain District policies and State regulations regarding school attendance and enrollment as appropriate.

Perform a variety of clerical duties such as typing and distributing correspondence, lists, bulletins and notices as assigned; receive, screen and distribute incoming mail; prepare and distribute bulk mailings as directed.

Operate a variety of office equipment including a calculator, copier, fax machine, typewriter, computer and assigned software; operate automated dialer system for attendance.

Prepare and maintain a variety of records, logs and files related to student attendance and assigned activities; input daily attendance information and prepare lists of outstanding absences for appropriate action.

Refer student attendance issues to appropriate personnel according to established procedures; assist in identifying and resolving student attendance problems.

Participate in a variety of projects and activities including student registration, District reviews and related operations as needed.

Provide work direction and guidance to student aides as required; assist the health care assistant with sick or injured children as required.

Assist with administering first aid as needed.

Perform related duties as assigned within classification.

ABILITY TO:
State law requires employees to be fingerprinted; clearance from the Department of Justice is required prior to employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year general clerical experience involving public contact.
