TITLE: COORDINATOR, SPECIAL EDUCATION
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Credential
- California Credential authorizing instruction in a designated special education setting
- California Administrative Services Credential
- Experience
- Experience in both regular and special education settings. Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a District Representative to the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education.
- Monitor procedural safeguards and recommend procedural changes required.
- Supervise the adherence to federal and state laws and regulations.
- Supervise the implementation of student I.E.P.’s in each special education class or program.
- Assist staff in:
- Utilizing the results in developing written individualized instruction plans;
- Coordinating individualized education programs with the student’s regular program;
- Providing consultation relating to specialized instruction, management, and guidance to aides, regular teachers, and parents.
- Develop and arrange in-service training programs for teachers and aides.
- Assist in providing coordination of services for students.
- Attend meetings and conferences designed to improve the quality of the special education program.
- Evaluate designated related service staff.
- Supervise the operations of non-public schools and regional programs assigned to the San Marcos Unified School District.

- Responsible to the Director of Special Education
- Evaluated by the Director of Special Education
