TK-12 VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS
TEACHER ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT
THE POSITION
Under the guidance of Educational Support Services, the Visual And Performing Arts (VAPA) Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA) supports the coordination and implementation of the District’s TK-12 Visual and Performing Arts program.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of K-12 Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive:
? Supports and builds the Visual and Performing Arts programs throughout TVUSD.
? Provides coaching and training to teachers, staff and parents.
? Coordinates districtwide schedules and the distribution of materials and supplies for site-based art programs.
? Tracks inventory and maintenance of equipment for various VAPA programs and communicates needs to TVUSD administration.
? Schedules, plans, coordinates, and facilitates district wide meetings.
? Attends professional development opportunities regarding VAPA, Common Core and assessment, and instruction.
? Builds and maintains partnerships with community and county VAPA partners.
? Collaborates with site teachers in the development, organization, and communication of a guaranteed and viable curriculum.
? Communicates updates of the visual and performing arts to teachers and other district staff.
? Supports current TVUSD staff development initiatives.
? Supports and facilitates vertical articulation between the Elementary and Secondary VAPA departments.
? Utilizes current student data systems to inform decisions.
? Builds partnerships with outside programs to enhance the VAPA experience for students.
? Positively communicates and brands the TVUSD VAPA program using tools such as websites, newsletters, and public presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Knowledge of:
? The California Arts Standards for Public Schools
? The District’s VAPA Plan
? Appreciation of the five artistic disciplines (Dance, Media Arts, Music, Theater, and Visual Arts)
Ability to:
? Develop and coordinate programs.
? Effectively support parents, teachers, administrators, and students.
? Organize and manage time effectively.
? Work both collaboratively and independently.
? Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.
? Appreciate human diversity; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults.
Training, Education, and Experience:
? Appropriate Credential and EL Authorization
? Minimum of three (3) years of recent classroom teaching experience in grades K-12 VAPA programs.
WORK YEAR: 184 days
SALARY: Certificated Salary Schedule A
Board Approval: June 28, 2022
