WRITTEN TESTS
Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 1:00 P.M., SHARP. Education Center, Board Room, 4850 Pedley Road, Jurupa Valley, CA 92509. THE TESTING WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY ONE AND ONE-HALF (1 1/2) HOURS TO COMPLETE. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO REMAIN IN THE TESTING ROOM FOR THE ENTIRE TEST PERIOD. THIS IS THE ONLY NOTICE OF THE TESTING.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING A VALID STATE OR GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID IN ORDER TO TEST. PLEASE ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME TO PARK AND CHECK IN WITH THE FRONT DESK PRIOR TO ENTERING THE TESTING ROOM.

TRANSPORTATION DISPATCHER

DEFINITION

Under general direction, to organize bus routes and schedules; to dispatch bus drivers for regular service, field trips and special events; to gather and evaluate information regarding time schedules, loads and routes; and to do related work as required.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assign and schedule bus drivers for regular service, field trips, and special events in accordance with district procedures.
  • Operate two-way radio in the dispatching of bus drivers.
  • Answer questions regarding the transportation of students from the public and district personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as needed in the daily operation of the Transportation Department.
  • Assist in the preparation of bus routes, schedules, and driver assignments.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
  • May work with minimum supervision.
  • May supervise other transportation personnel in the absence of the supervisor.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs other related tasks as needed.

 

LICENSE REQUIREMENT

Possession of a valid, appropriate California Driver’s License.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:
The geography of the District, including school and facility locations;
Standard office equipment and procedures;
Provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code relating to the transportation of students;
Safe driving practices and procedures;
Safe fueling practices;
Operation of a two-way radio.

Ability to:
Drive automotive equipment safely, efficiently, and in conformance with applicable laws;
Schedule personnel for the transportation of pupils;
Operate a two-way radio;
Understand and follow oral instructions;
Read and follow written instructions;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
Communicate effectively with employees and the community;
Work competently under pressure and deadlines;
Work on more than one task at a time;
Maintain accurate records and reports;
Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
Learn and remain familiar with street layout, location of schools and other facilities within District boundaries;
Efficiently and effectively operate office machines, including a computer with keyboard and monitor;
Meet minimum physical requirements as prescribed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles;
Sit for sustained periods of time;
Maintain regular, steady attendance.

Experience:
Three years of responsible record keeping, dispatching and scheduling of bus or delivery routes is preferred.  School district experience is desirable.

Courteous, helpful nature; sound judgment; patience; reliable and dependable.
