Job Summary
Christian Junior Senior High School, a college preparatory school in the greater San Diego, is accepting applications for a Drama teacher for 2024-2025. The successful teacher must be dynamic and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Candidate must be passionate about engaging students in guiding them to think, learn and live from a Biblical worldview. Plan for and teach theatre-related classes including Junior High Beginning Drama, High School beginning Drama, and Advanced Production as well and Technical Theatre. Coordinate, produce, block, choreograph, and direct approximately 2 Middle School plays, and 2-3 High School productions per school year including 1 musical annually. Audition students to select cast and assign parts Assign non-performing students to backstage production tasks Organize and maintain production calendars, and work with school & church admin. to schedule play dates. Order scripts, choose plays or musicals, and coordinate stage production, including sets, props, and costumes Produce marketing materials, including programs, flyers, posters, promo-videos and show announcements Maintain and organize inventory of all set items, scenery, tools, paint, costumes, script-library, and props Maintain drama budget. Manage productions, including tech, lighting, sound, and backstage management Lead after-school and weekend student rehearsals Teach enunciation, diction, voice development, and dialects, using voice exercise, speech drills, explanation, lectures, theatre-safety, theatre-history, technical theatre skills, tool-use, and improvisation Discuss and demonstrate vocal and body expression to teach acting styles, character development, and personality projection Participate in CA Educational Theatre Association workshops and competitions, including 3-day trip to their festival each January.
