Job Summary

The responsibilities of a preschool aide include assisting the lead teacher with classroom curriculum. In this career, you supervise behavior, enforcing rules for children under five years old and recognizing potential problems. Your duties include creating social and emotional developmental activities and offering positive guidance. You primarily play games and read books, but some positions require you to prepare lesson plans and teach a small activity each day. You also work with students one-on-one to practice letters and numbers. You must ensure the well-being and safety of each child at all times. You are also expected to help with setting up and cleaning the classroom every day. You are responsible for maintaining student files, keeping records of attendance, assisting with recess and lunch times, taking children to the bathroom, helping wash hands, and more.
