* * * THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR FIREBAUGH HIGH SCHOOL * * * BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and the Director of Secondary Education, the High School Principal serves as the educational leader and chief executive of the school. The Principal is responsible for the direction of the instructional program, operation of the school plant, participation in staff and student activities, and community leadership. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: • Knowledge of effective student disciplinary and control procedures and practices • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Knowledge of operation and administration of the school district, laws, rules and regulations affecting the school • Knowledge of budget development and categorical funding rules and regulations • Excellent interpersonal skills with teachers, classified employees, parents, students and other community members • Knowledge of secondary programs, curricular paths and assessment • Knowledge of effective teaching practices and the ability to evaluate their use in a classroom setting • Knowledge of guidance program to support college and career readiness • Knowledge of the WASC school improvement process • Knowledge of student activities and CIF high school athletic programs • Efficient and effective organization and time management skills • Knowledge of AP and IB Programs ABILITY TO: • Exhibit the qualities of leadership essential to the successful administration at a high school • Meet district standards for physical and mental health • Relate well with students, parents, administrators, teachers and community • Demonstrate effective instructional, organizational, and administrative leadership • Analyze problems, identify potential solutions and make appropriate and effective decisions • Reinforce appropriate school behavior • Read, write and speak Spanish preferred
