JOB DESCRIPTION:
Are you interested in becoming a member of a supportive and dedicated team leading Universal Prekindergarten in California through an innovative, inclusive, and high-performing early education system in California? The Early Education Division (EED) at the California Department of Education supports the State’s early education system by advancing equitable opportunities that optimize thriving children, families, and communities through the implementation of universal prekindergarten. By supporting early education programs and teachers through research and evidence-based training, resources, and guidance, the EED helps ensure all of California’s children have access to high-quality services and education and have a strong early learning and care foundation for school and lifelong success.
The EED Early Education System Improvement Office is looking for a dynamic, knowledgeable, analytical, hardworking, organized, independent, and committed professional to join the office to assists the EED Director, Education Administrator I, and Consultants in the development, promotion, and presentation of resources to strengthen the state’s integrated Early Learning Care system to prepare children and improve their transitions across early childhood into the early elementary school grades. The CDC monitors grants, manages projects and activities as described in CDE and the California Health and Human Services Agency Preschool Development Grant interagency agreement, provides guidance and technical assistance to local partners, and provides systems expertise to the sub-grantees.
This position is limited-term for 12 months and may be extended or become permanent.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Diverse experience in early learning and care programs
• Knowledge of current trends, research, and practices in early education
• Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, in small and large group settings
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals and groups possessing varied backgrounds and perspectives relating to ELC issues
