Vision for the Vice Principal:
- Assists the principal with assigned responsibilities to implement and manage the policies, regulations, and procedures of the Department of Catholic Schools to ensure that all students are
meeting or exceeding Core Curriculum Content Standards following the approved curricula and directives of the school. - The Vice Principal is an instructional leader who is a mentor and collaborates with teachers to help them continually grow in their craft.
- The Vice Principal must communicate effectively with parents, clergy, and community members.
- Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for the discipline of students, supervision of staff, scheduling, curriculum development, program evaluation, supervision of extracurricular activities, and general operations of the school.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Actively foster, participate and support Catholic beliefs, traditions and practices.
- Operates with honesty and transparency to create a strong partnership with parents, students, and staff.
- Engages staff and offers support, coaching, and encouragement where needed.
- Assist in planning a professional development program that meets the needs of the faculty and improves student learning.
- Keeps the staff informed and seeks ideas for the improvement of the school.
- Promotes a student-centered environment and focuses on positive interactions and restorative justice.
- Attends required Sunday school Masses, staff meetings, in-services, and special school events,
- Serves, as appropriate, on staff committees.
This Position:
- Partners with the principal to manage all aspects of the school
- Observes classes regularly to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies
- Attends parent meetings and other school functions
- Assists in managing the school's safety plan
- Manages input for the annual WCEA progress report and supports the self-study process
- Serves on the SFC Parish building Committee
- Attends School Advisory Council (SAC) meetings
- Orders books and other curricular materials
- Moderates The Student Council
- Serves on the Financial Aide Committee
- Evaluates student performance data to include standardized testing
- Schedules and conducts Student Study Team (SST) meetings
- Supervises assigned non-classroom areas and non-instructional times, including arrival and dismissal of students, school-wide and extracurricular activities, including evening events
Language Skills:
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Uses excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, parents, and colleagues.
Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of the Catholic Church and Catholic school system and culture
Education, License, Certificates, and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree and a valid CA Credential
- Master's Degree in Administrative Leadership or Educational Leadership preferred
- Have a minimum of five (5) years excellent experience in teaching and/or administration
- Salary and Compensation
- Salary based on DSJ Teacher Salary Scale commensurate with experience plus leadership stipend.
