Job Summary

SDCOE is recruiting for a Special Education Teacher - Infant/Toddler position for the HOPE Infant Family Support Program. The position will provide itinerant services to young children and their families in the South San Diego County area and will be based out of the South County Regional Education Center in National City. Please note that the candidate for this position must be bilingual/biliterate in Spanish and English. The Special Education Teacher provides special instruction focused on promoting caregiver-child interactions within the context of everyday activities and routines as the foundation of effective early intervention for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities. The Special Education Teacher is the primary service provider who meets with families regularly to collaborate on intervention strategies that address IFSP outcomes in the context of everyday routines. Along with the support of other team members, the Special Education Teacher assists the family to implement intervention strategies and meet the needs of their child. Duties are typically performed in a home setting and will work with young children with a variety of disabilities, birth to age three, and their families. Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish) Required
  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Early Childhood Special Education or other Special Education Credential authorizing instruction to infants and toddlers (ages birth to 3) issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • Three years successful experience in early childhood programs for children with special needs
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for assessment, writing IFSPs, providing consultation, support and strategies to families of young children with disabilities
  • Experience with Infants and Toddlers (birth to age 3)
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Proof of all required immunizations including current Measles and Pertussis vaccination
