Days: Monday - Thursday
Salary: 35,000 - 45,000
Responsibilities:
· Design lesson plans for and lead all library classes
· Implement a comprehensive information literacy curriculum for all grades
· Empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers and skillful researchers
· Support and participate in a professional learning community, create a joyful, vibrant and welcoming environment
· Design and teach integrated research skills
· Provide reading support for students
· Collaborate with teachers in classes, in the library, and during planning times to teach project-based research skills and develop curriculum using 21st century skills that incorporate the use of information literacy and technology
· Work with the early childhood, lower school, and middle school division and department leadership to align existing resources and practices with curriculum
· Advocate for and appreciate all age students
· Promote a lifelong love of reading and a robust reading culture
· Schedule and lead book clubs, book talks, book fairs, author visits, displays, etc.
· Ensure the library collection represents a diverse and multicultural range of authors and topics
· Oversee the maintenance of the school library’s collection (print and online), including circulation, collection development, inventory, and evaluation
· Assist with supervisory tasks, library monitoring and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Master of Library Science (MLS) preferred
· At least 3 years of teaching/library experience preferred
· Flexibility, curiosity, enthusiasm, and an extensive knowledge of young children’s and young adult literature
· Strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to Middle School learners and readers
· An understanding of the scope and the sequence of library and information literacy curriculum
· Experience in evaluating and selecting print and digital resources with a commitment to equity and inclusion
· Excellent communication skills, including the ability to proactively collaborate with students, faculty, and parents
Technology and Software Knowledge:
· G Suite for Education, Microsoft Office, iPad usage, Follett Destiny Library Manager, LibGuides, social networking, database and digital content.
