Job Summary
The job of Instructional Assistant-Severely Disabled is done for the purpose/s of assisting a teacher in the supervision and instruction of severely special needs students; observing and documenting student progress; implementing plans for instruction; and assisting students by providing for special health care needs. Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing an opportunity for all special education students to participate in classroom activities. Assists special education students one on one with classroom and daily living skills (e.g. toileting, diapering, tube feeding, changing PE clothes, etc. as assigned) for the purpose of creating a positive plan of action to address specific student issues and helping them to process behaviors. Assists teacher in instructing special education students (e.g. math, reading, behavioral skills, daily living skills, writing, verbal skills, etc. for the purpose of implementing goals and ensuring student success.
Requirements / Qualifications
All applicants must have: 1. High School diploma or GED 2. Six months experience working with children in a supervisory capacity, volunteer experience is accepted to meet the requirement. 3. A completed Employment Application. Resumes are not accepted in-lieu of a completed application. 4. Must check all task boxes on the Instructional Assistant Application to be considered for this Severe - Instructional Assistant position.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL BE INVITED TO A FUTURE EXAMINATION. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements and have a passing score on written examination.
