Welcome to Paramount Unified School District. PRIMARY FUNCTION
Participates in multidisciplinary assessments as a member of a site School Assessment Team. Provides information from a variety of sources including psychoeducational assessments, observations and assessments to assist in the development of educational programs to meet the identified needs of students. Serves as a general resource to parents and staff regarding appropriate educational and behavioral strategies and methodologies.

ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS
Psychologist directly responsible to the Director of Special Education and Teacher Support

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Consults with school administrators concerning: appropriate learning objectives for students, planning of developmental and remedial programs for pupils in regular and special education school programs and the development of educational research and evaluation
• Consults with teachers in the development and implementation of classroom methods and procedures designed to facilitate student learning and to accommodate learning and behavioral differences
• Consults with parents to assist them in understanding the learning and adjustment processes of students
• Consults with community groups and agencies concerning students who are being served by such resources and agencies
• Consults with and provides technical expertise to: other pupil services staff providing services related to students needs (placement and developmental), and significant adults with whom the student relates
• Provides psychoeducational assessment and diagnosis of specific learning and behavioral disabilities, including but not limited to: case study evaluation, recommendation for remediation or placement and periodic re-evaluation of such students
• Provides psychological counseling and other therapeutic techniques for students and parents
• Provides parent education
• Maintains a program of accountability and evaluation in an effort to produce visible and measurable results
• Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education


QUALIFICATIONS
• Possession of a valid California credential authorizing service as a Psychologist
