Job DescriptionPOSITON TITLE: Bilingual Instructional Aide / Para-Professional Teacher’s AssistantSUMMARY OF POSITION:Work cooperatively under the direction of the site administrator to support instructional activities ofEnglish Language Learning students. A majority of the assignment will be spent working directly withstudents in a capacity that meets learning and physical needs of students. Reinforcing learning conceptsat the teacher’s or specialist’s direction in small groups or as needed. Assist in the supervision of thestudents’ activities at recess and/or lunch.DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:Direct supervision of School Administration. May receive technical or functional supervision from acertificated instructor, or other certificated personnel.DUTIES:?? Assist the teacher in planning and carrying out the activities of the instructional programwhile maintaining effective communication to assure that appropriate institutional goalsare implemented and assessed on a regular basis?? Assist the teacher in the preparation of instructional materials and study aids to be usedby students in classrooms or individual study situations?? Translate teacher instructions from English to Spanish or another language?? Make necessary phone calls to parents of non-English speaking students to relayteacher messages. (May be called upon by other staff members forcommunication/translating purposes.)?? Translate at various school functions such as Back-to-School night, Parent/TeacherConferences, Open House, etc.?? Assist in administering and scoring of tests and examinations?? Work independently with small groups of students and individuals including physicaltasks to meet the needs of students with disabilities?? Maintain records as needed for program management and legal compliance?? Report any unusual student behavior, including suspected child abuse to the instructor?? May assist in the arrangement of field trips; accompany class on field trips; assist in thesupervision of class on field trips??
