We have an exciting opportunity for a Dean of Instruction located at our campus in Menifee, CA. The Dean of Instruction for Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is a key educational leader responsible for advancing the MSJC Instructional Division's mission to ensure learner-centered and equity-minded teaching practices and curriculum in the areas they oversee. The Dean supports and promotes a campus culture of academic excellence, student equity, inclusion and cultural humility through the leadership and direct supervision of assigned educational programs. Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Instruction, the Dean will exercise administrative responsibility for degree programs and general education curriculum and provide day-to-day supervision of the instructional personnel, expeditures and facilities at the Menifee Valley Campus and other sites in the District.
The Dean of Instruction for Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences will assume primary responsibility for a variety of disciplines and departments which may include English, Performing and Fine Arts, Spanish, American Sign Language, Psychology, Anthropology, Communication, and History, among others. The Dean will also assist in planning, coordinating and reviewing campus-specific and college-wide academic programs, and developing applications for categorical funding when available. In the absence of the Vice President of Instruction from the District, the Dean may assume the duties and responsibilities of the Vice President. The Dean will perform other duties as assigned. This is a management position, exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, with responsibility for formulation and recommendation of district policies, regulations and budget decisions related to area of responsibility. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree (attach transcripts); AND 2. One (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's assignment; AND 3. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph*** DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Three (3) years of experience as a full-time faculty member at the college level 2. Two (2) years of experience serving as a Department Chair 3. Experience managing community college programs 4. Effective oral and written communication skills 5. Demonstrated ability to manage financial resources with a record of fiscal responsibility and accountability 6. Demonstrated advocacy for students and students' needs
