INSTRUCTIONAL DEAN
DEFINITION
Under general direction of the site principal, the Instruction Dean serves to manage and supervise an instructional program division; to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of schoolwide policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to instruction, curriculum, and evaluation; to review, monitor, and coordinate the functions and activities of the instructional staff within each division; and to perform other related functions as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Plan, organize, coordinate, and participate in the development of the site instructional program goals and objectives ·

Collaborate with key stakeholders to design, analyze, and evaluate site program needs and offer recommendations pertaining to instructional program revisions, additions, and/or deletions

Coordinate the selection of textbooks, instructional media, instructional equipment and materials
-
Confer, counsel, and advise administrative support and instruction personnel regarding student instructional management problems, issues and concerns
-
Participate in the building of the master schedule
-
Participate in the budget planning process and in the development and implementation of expenditure control procedures; Advise and offer recommendations to division club sponsors in the conduct of club functions and activities

Confer with and assists instruction personnel in the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns

Review, monitor, supervise, and evaluate the performance of certificated division personnel and classified staff
-
Ensure culturally relevant and responsive instruction
-
Demonstrate equity, access, cultural responsiveness and inclusivity in decision-making, communication, and processes
-
Assist in the recruitment and selection of site personnel
-
Make recommendations concerning the revision and updating of student rules, regulations and handbooks
-
May assist in student discipline, attendance, supervision, and activities
-
May conduct staff development and in-service training programs regarding various division instruction subject matter areas

May serve as chairperson or as a member of various site and District advisory committees
-
May conduct or participate in parent conferences in resolving student instruction, discipline, attendance and truancy matters
-
May assist in the coordination of student financial aid and scholarship programs
-
Assist in the planning, organization and conduct of senior student and graduation events and activities
-
May serve as a liaison to student service community groups
-
Prepare variety of management and program evaluation reports as required

Experience:
Three years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of an earned master of arts or higher degree from an accredited college or university in educational administration, instructional technology, or a closely related field
Certification Requirement:
Possession of a valid California Administrative Services Credential
