About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Superintendent, plan, organize, control and direct District-wide Business Services and Operations activities including accounting, budget, information technology, nutrition service, purchasing, risk management, custodial, transportation, facility planning, maintenance and repair functions; coordinate and direct communications, information, strategic planning, personnel and resources to meet District needs and assure smooth and efficient Division activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. Provides guidance and supervises assigned managerial and other District personnel.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field and a combination of eight years working in business, fiscal planning and operations and activities in an educational or related setting including five years in an administrative capacity. Experience in the educational field desired. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver’s license. KNOWLEDGE OF: Planning, organization and direction of District-wide Business Services and Operations activities, generally accepted accounting and auditing principles, practices and procedures. Laws governing the construction and renovation of public buildings, applicable local, State and Federal laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, policies and procedures. Network Technology standards and practices including data storage and retention, disaster recovery and classroom technology requirements. School District organization, operations, policies and objectives. Policies and objectives of assigned programs and activities, principles and practices of administration, supervision and training. Advanced theory and application of budgetary planning and control in a school system. Educational programs and standards; requirements outlined in Federal and State law related to school district accountability and student achievement. Oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy, operation of a computer and assigned software. Public relations techniques.
