The California Montessori Project (CMP) is a public K-8 charter program using research-based Montessori pedagogy to provide academic choice for families in greater Sacramento and Shingle Springs, CA. Lead teachers must possess a CA Multiple Subject Credential or Multiple Subject Authorization on a Single Subject credential and CLAD/ELL authorization. CMP is an AMS and WASC accredited school. As an accredited Montessori school, Middle School teachers must also possess a Secondary I Montessori teacher certificate and verifiable Montessori classroom experience, OR be willing to enroll in Montessori training concurrent with employment. CMP Middle School teachers traditionally attend training at the Houston Montessori Center (HMC), affiliated with the School of the Woods in Houston, Texas: http://www.houstonmontessoricenter.org/. Montessori training programs may be completed while working at our school. CMP's Middle School program is modeled after the Dr. Coe's School of the Woods middle school program in Houston. This model includes planning, implementing and traveling with students on a variety of multi-day, overnight field lab excursions throughout the year. As such, teachers must be in a position to participate in these trips 3-4 times per year, away from home. Applicants must submit an online Edjoin application and be ready to matriculate immediately for some portion of Montessori training over the coming summer.
