ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily and log attendance. Stride is our curriculum provider.

Requirements / Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Implements, monitors, and collaborates with teachers/staff in a school • Provides short-term individual and/or small group counseling • Provides parent consultation and training to assist parents in the needs of their child; provides information about child development and assists parents in the acquisition of necessary skills to support their child at school • Provides family consultation and referrals • Assist parents in accessing and utilizing community resources • Collaborates with Compass Team and CAVA Staff on Social-Emotional interventions and supports for students • Documents all contact, resources provided, and student progress to maintain accurate student records • Participates in professional activities, conferences and research to keep abreast of trends, practices and continued growth and development in services for students with social and emotional needs • Identifies school program needs and assist in developing school strategies to meet student needs • Evaluates teachers’ effective use of SEL curriculum and programming • Develops and provides ongoing training and assistance to staff • Collaborates with teachers/staff and other stakeholders to create safe, healthy supportive learning environments for all students • Assigns and arranges schedules for interventions/mental health support sessions • Collaborates with Compass, 504, and Psych teams on all aspects of crisis prevention, intervention and postvention; including documentation, intervention, follow up care service and support access to resources for schools, families and students • Support State Testing • Participates in Professional Development and training, as assigned • Other duties, as assigned HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: $75,000+ based on experience and highest degree Full Time: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.

Requirements/Experience: • At least 3 years of related experience • Strong organizational skills • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook • Strong Interpersonal and communication skills • Strong leadership skills • Ability to travel, as needed • Knowledge of: • Theory and evidence-based practices of counseling, ethics and associated legal confidentiality requirements • Therapeutic methodologies and family systems theories • Applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws, rules and regulations • Applicable diagnosis and treatment models for individuals, groups, and families • Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) • Normal and abnormal child behavior, development and parent-child relationships • Effective communication strategies including verbal and written formats • Federal and state laws concerning family rights and behavioral health services • Conflict resolution and group dynamics • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) • Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) • Child abuse mandated reporting policies and procedures • Emotional, social and mental health issues related to school aged children • Effective counseling strategies, child growth and developmental issues, crisis interventions Certificates and Licenses: Bachelor’s degree Master’s degree Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist preferred REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
