Job Summary

The Head Counselor position is a pivotal, fast-paced position requiring complex thinking and problem-solving. It requires constant multitasking and the re-prioritizing of job duties. The Head Counselor must be willing to supervise daily student activities, and hold difficult conversations with parents, students, and staff. Logistical skills are valuable when developing the master schedule and meeting the unique needs of each student when scheduling. Knowledge of the high school curriculum, graduation requirements, career pathways, college admissions and CTE philosophy is preferred. The new Head Counselor will work in a supportive environment and will receive continuous training. Essential responsibilities include the following: ? Develop a shared vision for school culture with students, parents, staff and community partners ? Collaborate and refine the development of the master schedule ? Provide training for staff, including counselors and teachers, in the implementation of school site programs and initiatives ? Collaborate and participate in instructional leadership team meetings and activities ? Lead and coordinate all school site testing and assessments. (i.e. iready, PSAT, SAT, SBAC and or other district assessments) ? Conduct meetings with students, parents, and other stakeholders pertaining to school culture and student progress ? Lead and coordinate the counseling department alignment to the school’s mission, vision, and values to students, parents, staff, and all other community stakeholders ? Assist and support site counselors with creating school-wide short and long-term goals ? Support and lead SST and 504 trainings for staff to include teachers, counselors, and other administrators ? Coordinate with the counseling team to implement new student orientation, summer school, scholarship programs, and graduation ceremonies ?
