CLASS TITLE: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – DISTRICT OFFICE – 12-MONTH BASIC FUNCTION: Under direction, perform a variety of responsible secretarial and administrative support duties in support of an Assistant Superintendent or a department Director/Manager; to assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating support activities related to the assigned department and to provide general information and assistance to faculty, staff, parents, and the general public. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and four years increasingly responsible secretarial or administrative assistance experience.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Under direction, perform a variety of responsible secretarial and administrative support duties in support of an Assistant Superintendent and/or a department Director/Manager; to assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating support activities related to the assigned department and to provide general information and assistance to faculty, staff, parents, and the general public. Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and four years of increasingly responsible secretarial or administrative assistance experience. Knowledge Of: • Organization, rules, regulations, and programs related to assigned department or function • Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment • Applicable sections of State Education Code and other applicable laws • District organization, operations, policies, and objectives • Operation of a computer and assigned software • Internet access and resource navigation • Record-keeping techniques Ability To: • Perform advanced-level administrative duties requiring independent judgment and analysis • Plan, organize, and coordinate office activities and communications to relieve the Director of administrative and clerical duties • Work independently with little direction • Compose letters, memos, bulletins, or other material independently or from oral instructions • Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures • Meet schedules and timelines • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others • Exercise good judgment, flexibility, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs • Maintain professional standards of confidentiality • Operate word processing, spreadsheets, and database management computer software
